UAE work-at-height regulations: what your man lifting cage must have

Working at height is a high-risk activity on construction sites. The UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, along with local municipalities, enforce strict compliance rules for personnel lifting equipment. If you are using a crane-lifted or telehandler-mounted man cage, it MUST include these safety features:

1. Full-Perimeter Guardrails and Kick-plates

The cage must feature guardrails at a minimum height of 1.1 meters, a mid-rail, and solid toe boards (kick-plates) to prevent tools from slipping off the deck.

2. Internal Harness Anchor Points

Overhead or floor-mounted safety harness anchor points must be built-in. Every occupant must wear a full-body harness secured to these anchors during lifting.

3. Self-Closing and Locking Safety Gate

The gate must open inward and possess a mechanical locking lock mechanism to prevent accidental opening during movement.
